A few years ago, at Sentio Voci we were asked to manage a response to an Invitation To Tender (ITT) to develop a land mobile, hazardous material handling system.
A pre-production order was contingent upon the acceptance of the initial development bid. The model above is a retrospective view of the bid process we formulated.
We received the assignment when our client was already two and a half weeks into an eight-week window of opportunity..
The organization Sentio Voci was supporting had no prior experience in bidding for Ministry of Defence (MOD) contracts and had not previously assembled their own team with experience to process ITT initiatives.
Our client did not secure the contract but the experience proved to be an invaluable learning opportunity for them in the realm of tendering and they retained a useful bid model for later opportunities. We are proud that we managed to submit the tender response within the stipulated time-frame.
The key takeaway here is the importance of preparedness. It is crucial to be well-equipped and organized from the outset of such tasks.
