In the U.K. Defence industry, the time to respond to an invitation-to-tender may be only a matter of weeks. However, even if you are not expecting it any time soon, it is a good idea to plan your response beforehand. This is the MBSE* architecture diagram for the engineering part of a small land based project tender. It is a good place to start. If you are on unfamiliar ground here, the workspace diagram will give you some idea of the scope and type of engineering effort required to get your contribution of the bid completed on time. However, do not forget to get most of it done early and do not forget your sub-contractors’ contributions.
